Welcome to Encyclopedia Entrepreneuria! My name is Zach Thigpen. I have worked with many early-stage startups in various business roles over the past 10 years. As a generalist, I’ve often been put in charge of a department or activity that was completely new to me, and had to learn on the fly using research and experimentation. In addition to knowing what I didn't know, my teammates and I would constantly worry about what we were neglecting entirely without even realizing. With minimal financial and human capital, building a business (and not just a product) can be daunting.
Encyclopedia Entrepreneuria is the personal reference guide I’ve always wished existed. It's the culmination of the research and lessons I’ve gathered for Strategy, Biz Ops, and Biz Dev. It's meant for any founder or early stage employee who is wondering where to start (0 to 1). This is not a textbook or a how-to start a company guide, but a checklist and resource database to help founders stay organized and get underway. If this can help one person build one company, the effort and time spent creating Encyclopedia Entrepreneuria will be well worth it. Reach out if you have any questions, feedback, disagreements, requests, or suggestions and I promise to get back to you. Thank you to all the writers who shared their experiences and knowledge I have referenced. You’ve all taught me and others so much! Disclaimers: All the tips are my opinions alone. These tips are meant to get you thinking and direct you where to start. Additionally, many of the articles I've included as references duplicate information; many others contradict each other because there are no hard and fast rules for startups. Finally, most of the tips and articles concern B2B SaaS startups (traditional VC-backable companies). While some of the advice is specific, much of it is more general and applicable to any type of company. |
